Tuning The Ngoni

One of the most important things to check when tuning the Ngoni is for the bridge to be perpendicular to the bridge pad at all times. As the instrument is being tuned higher in pitch the bridge tends to angle towards the top of the neck. If the instrument is tuned down the bridge tends to angle towards the bottom. If the bridge is not perpendicular then apply force slowly and carefully until is it correctly set.

It is good practice and rewarding to always tune before playing your Ngoni.

Traveling

Like any other musical instrument it is always advised to detune it when traveling. Similarly, if one anticipates not playing an instrument for a long period of time it should also be detuned.

Environmental Factors

A musical instrument should not be in direct heat or cold for extended periods of time. It should also not be in an environment of extreme heat or cold. Variations in temperature and humidity can affect the tuning of the instrument.
